Cabin Fever “Good Old Days” – living in the moment

It is high time that we featured some bluegrass here on the daily track, and where better to look for this North American art form than that bastion of musical excellence, Canada? Which is where we find the traditional sounding Cabin Fever and their new song ‘Good Old Days‘, one of the new tracks Cabin Fever recently recorded with producer Matt Weston at his Swamp Songs studio, with Matt chipping in on drums as well. They report that the sessions carried on the spirit of camaraderie that took Kyle Faulkner, the band’s guitarist and vocalist, bassist/vocalist Jessica McKay and mandolin player Colin Jolly from playing around campfires to opening for some of Canada’s top live acts, including The Sadies.

Kyle Faulkner says, “This song started as many songs do, with a single lyrical phrase, in this case, a family member’s favourite saying, ‘These ARE the good old days!’ I hear it at every family gathering. It reminds us to live in the moment, and appreciate that one day we’ll look back on these times and smile as we reminisce.”

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
