Caroline Marie Brooks has released a new single, ‘Night Drive‘ which paints a picture of a solo night-time journey, with reflections on the immenseness of creation “Night drive under endless sky” which can be intimidating in its vastness “It all makes me feel so damn small.” There’s an unwarranted modesty with regard to her own talents “I play songs written by my friends / To keep me left of the white line / I am one of them / Less eloquent but still trying.” And there is an acceptance of life on a cosmic level “I am so light and so heavy / I am forever I am temporary.”
And, not only is it beautiful of lyric, ‘Night Drive‘ is also beautiful of melody and the vocals – including Brooks’ fellow Good Lovelies bandmate, Susan Passmore on backing. ‘Night Drive‘ is the second single from Caroline Marie Brooks’ new album, ‘Everything at the Same Time’ , which is out on September 24th.
