Chris Dover “It’s A Difficult World” – where’s my place?

Chris Dover was formerly the frontman for Hoodoo Operators, but in the last few years the Bradford based singer has forged a solo career based on weaving Delta Blues, British Folk and Country storytelling together as demonstrated on today’s song. The title track of Chris Dover’s third release since 2020, ‘It’s a Difficult World‘ sings of alienation and disconnection in a world that doesn’t seem to be going right.  And when you look around and see a world where “we all burn the house down to cause ourselves pain” and realise that with this knowledge you’re no different “I still burn the house to cause myself pain” then it’s no wonder that it’s hard to see where you might fit in amongst all this confusion.

It’s a Difficult World‘ was released initially on BandCamp on the 27th May and has been on all streaming platforms since 17th June.  So if you want to hear more, you know where to go.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
