Looking very promising for Thursday, have this weird feeling of hope which I'd forgotten all about - still not totally convinced mind you some skulduggery won't happen to make him mysteriously lose.

Impressed at his discipline meeting Trump.  Focused on policy and outcome; not dragged into the usual performative bollocks.

Reading Andy Beckett's book over the break about Ken Livingstone taking over the GLC in the early 80s, strikes me how similar the situation for Mamdani is. When Livingstone took over this great building which had previously only been accessible to men in suits attending lavish drinks receptions, he opened it to all community groups to have meetings, gave them facitlities such as photocopying and by displaying London's unemployment numbers on the building facing parliament, he politicised it as a direct challenge to the then leadership of the country, as Mamdani is with Trump.
