Sometimes, and we may have mentioned this before, Americana UK gets accused of being too serious. Let’s unpack that (as the kids, and their elders, like to say). Fundamentally, there is nothing as such wrong with being serious. But let’s park that. Serious? Seriously? Us? Well – if we were so darn ‘ornery and serious would we be able to appreciate the harmonious joy of Cruise Control? Portland based Cruise Control are in thrall to the non-mainstream sounds of the rock and power pop of the sixties and seventies, as admirably demonstrated on the bag full of hooks of ‘Like A Bell‘ which rings out gloriously (see, we even make puns). It’s taken from the band’s second album “” which is also their first to be released on Curation Records, and will hit the streets on September 12th.
Cruise Control started out as the trio of Izzy Dupuis, Lee Butterfield and Penny Olives who have now expanded to a quartet with the addition of Tim Daylight. As well as having a new album ready to go the band are looking forward to touring and hitting dive bars, DIY venues and everywhere in between. Mostly around Portland and then adding some national dates in the larger America type region. So not here.
