The band Dogwood Tales has announced the release date of their latest album, Every Star In Rockingham County, which will arrive on the 28th August via Born Loser Records. Hailing from Harrisonburg, VA, in the heart of Shenandoah, the band is fronted by founders and childhood friends Kyle Grim (guitar/vocals) and Ben Ryan (guitar/vocals), alongside college contemporaries Jake Golibart (drums) and Danny Gibney (bass). With its location in its title, their new album is as much a love letter to the local DIY scene, vast farmlands, and surrounding mystical mountains as it is a portrait of present-day small-town American life. The band has also released the first single from the album called McMemories

Kyle Grim says, “McMemories came from a reflection on a relationship in my life that has felt informative to all relationships I’ve experienced since, one that feels like the center of all my loose ends, always in my peripheral. We started playing this song live a few years ago, and it felt like a missing piece that we had been looking for as a band, kind of mirroring how the lyrics felt for me personally. This song was a realization that a distant memory can be the beacon of light that brings all the scattered pieces together, and it takes remembering to see the path ahead with more certainty.”

The band recorded and released their debut full-length album, Too Hard to Tell, in 2018 and following its release, they toured relentlessly opening for acts such as John R. Miller, Illiterate Light, Susto, and The Felice Brothers. Their most recent release, sending, explored a more intimate, lo-fi singer/songwriter landscape; however, they say of this album, “It’s a ride in a battered Chevy 3500, best friends in tow, chasing the endless horizon of figuring it all out. It’s a reflection of life lived in the valley, in burden and beauty, both present and remembered, surrounded by walls of blue ridge mountains, beneath the stars of Rockingham County.”
