Emily Nenni announces the release of new album “Drive & Cry”

Fresh from her nomination as best honky tonk female at the Ameripoitan Music Awards, Emily Nenni has announced the release of her new album “Drive & Cry” on New West on 3rd May. After the artistic and critical success of ‘In The Ranch’, the new record is the first penned almost entirely (all but one of the twelve songs) by Nenni herself. She says “Aside from ‘Amarillo Highway,’ which is a staple of my sets, this is the first record I have completely written on my own. I spent a good bit of solitary time ruminating on things that had happened over the last year or two.” ‘Drive & Cry’ was produced by John James Tourville of The Deslondes, recorded in Nashville and mixed in Memphis.  It also sees her moving from rural South Colorado to Nashville, almost its polar opposite.  Anyone seeing her live would see she’s very much at home there.

Nenni has released the video for the album’s opening song, ‘Get To Know Ya‘, “a honky tonk rave-up that celebrates the end of the work day and the beginning of a music-filled, come-what-may night” she says. “I was selling cowboy boots and my coworkers were making plans to go to the honky tonk that night. I had already written a couple of songs for the record and they were on the melancholy side, so I wanted to have an upbeat two-stepping number. I just imagined some 80s movie like ‘Hard Country’, and folks getting off work and headed to the honky tonk… something that’s still alive and well in Nashville.”

The video for the song was directed by Joshua Shoemaker and features social media star Cornbread Cowboi, Joshua Hedley, Jonny Fritz, Esther Rose, Bella White, Riley Downing of The Deslondes, Jack Quiggins of Teddy & The Rough Riders, Hunter Pinkston of the Pink Stones, and more.

Nenni’s ‘Drive & Cry’ will be available across digital platforms, compact disc, and standard black vinyl. A limited clear & blue marble teal colour vinyl edition autographed by Emily Nenni will be available via Heady Wax Fiends. An autographed compact disc edition, as well as a limited Clear Pink vinyl edition autographed by Emily Nenni will be available via independent record stores worldwide and is available for pre-order.
