Evelyn Cools hasn’t railed against fate – instead she has embraced her destiny to record an EP ‘Misfit Paradise‘ that is definitely imbued with the cool. The title track has now been released as a single, and its languid gorgeousness chronicles a floating feeling of time passing in the company of just one other who is everything there is.
Presumably at the behest of her parents, Evelyn Cools has led something of a nomadic life – moving from Belgium to Hong Kong then Budapest, attending University in London before relocating to the USA, at first Los Angeles and – right now – New York. Evelyn Cools was inspired to write ‘Misfit Paradise‘ after her first visit to New York, as she explains: “living in New York was what I always wanted, to be in a city made for people of all walks of life. At the same time, my passion for music led me to a community that felt entirely free of judgement and valued human connection above all else. All ages, all races, all bodies, all different, all together. This song is written for the misfits, searching for a paradise to call our own.”
