Gibson & Toutant “Quoth My Baby” – Nevermore

Gibson & Toutant are Joe O’Connell (Vocals, xylophone, electric guitar) and Josephine McRobbie (Vocals, bass guitar, drums), and ‘Quoth My Baby‘ is taken from their latest album ‘On The Green‘ which is out on March 22nd, on Sleepy Cat Records.

‘Quoth My Baby‘ is a gently ironic observation of someone who is always on the go – things to do, things to unlock, places to be.  It’s a song that came together rapidly – the duo’s writing process is for one of them to pass along a snatch of melody to the other one, who adds lyrics, then passes it back, and so on – but quickly, so that the creative spirit is kept true.  It’s certainly upbeat and infectiously catchy (in a good non-COVID way).

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
