Icarus Phoenix revives an old song from the ashes with ‘Bright Eyes’. Singer Drew Danburry revisits an old song he released as a solo artist with his new band. Joining Danberry on the track are Eli Sims on drums, Leena Rhodes on guitar, keys, and backing vocals, Brendan Russell on bass, Peyton Rodeffer on guitar and backing vocals, as well as Andrew Young on drums and percussion. ‘Bright Eyes’ is one of several singles from an upcoming album recorded with producer Jed Jones.
Reflecting on the track, Danburry says, “I wrote this song in 2002 or 2003, and it was very much about a person I had a crush on but knew it wouldn’t work past a single conversation. I originally recorded it on the first Drew Danburry album, “An Introduction to Sex Rock”, and got feedback from a friend that I should re-record it with better production. It took me over 20 years to do it. But hey, I finally followed up and did that thing. I hope you like this nostalgic blast from the past.”
