American highways provide iconic imagery in so many films, TV shows and often serve as inspiration for song that capture the endless miles ahead, and the limitless miles behind. America – a nation in motion. And JD Hinton understands a lot of this – he’s been in motion himself, today’s song was inspired by more than twenty years of driving Interstate 10 between Los Angeles and Texas; a route that became both a physical journey and an emotional lifeline while repeatedly traveling home to visit his father, who lived to 102 years old.
JD Hinton is also a man of many parts – his musical roots go back to being a midnight to dawn disc jockey – another iconic role in the American cultural scene – on a highly rated R&B radio station that kept L.A. dancing the night away. He leveraged improvisational skills from being a disc jockey to move into acting – you may have caught him on The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles (where he played a silent movie actor) or Mork and Mindy (as an old flame of Mindy’s). He also appeared in Dynasty, but of this we have to be honest and admit that we have no practical experience to share.
Interstate Man follows on from the EP So Close So Far, which was on of our Top 10 EPs of last year.
