Jenny Berkel “Lavender City” – tell me why, why do you lie?

Jenny Berkel’s new song reflects on a relationship that didn’t quite work out – it’s the story of a summer relationship that took place in a city with little gardens everywhere. ‘Lavender City’ is an intimate look at the lies told in a bad relationship, with the eventual capacity to see clearly again.  Although, since life is pain there’s the necessity of anatomizing the lies that first drew one in.

Lavender City‘ is taken from the upcoming full-length LP ‘These are the Sounds Left From Leaving‘, out on Friday May 13th.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
