Jerry Leger returns to UK to promote new album “Donlands” and play some intimate venues

Canadian singer-songwriter Jerry Leger makes a much-anticipated return to the UK with his band The Situation for shows in May, giving audiences the first opportunity to savour live, tracks from his acclaimed new album “Donlands”, out now on Latent Recordings. In a sneak preview of the live set, Leger and The Situation recently recorded live off the floor ‘I Was Right To Doubt Her’, a stand-out track from “Donlands”. Watch the video below.

As Toronto’s music scene has grown in stature on the world stage, singer/songwriter Jerry Leger has been making his own significant contributions. all the while maintaining a long relationship with Cowboy Junkies as part of their Latent Recordings roster, with their songwriter/guitarist Michael Timmins often serving as producer. On the new album “Donlands” Leger teamed up with Canadian producer/engineer Mark Howard (Lucinda Williams, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Neil Young), whose trademark atmospheric sound adds an entirely new dimension to Leger’s approach. Named after the street in Toronto’s East End where it was recorded, in what once was the Donlands Theatre, the album certainly presents him in a new light.

Already got my tickets! Cluny on the 23rd, followed on the 24th with Kim Richey. What great timing.

I have fond memories of the Donlands area, where I once lived and where I met my darling wife 34 years ago; however, I’ll not be developing fond memories of Jerry Leger’s seemingly indifferent drummer, nor the excessive volume of the Hammond organ. Needs a bit of discipline, methinks.
