Jess Kerber “Never Again” – thoughts of home and safe places

Jess Kerber’s debut album “From Way Down Here” is set for release on Felte Records on June 20th and is previewed by today’s lead single ‘Never Again.’  It’s a song that recognises perfect moments – and recognises that a return to them is unattainable.  It’s a bitter-sweet recognition.

Jess Kerber picked up a guitar in Nashville at the age of 12 and was quickly drawn to different tunings and picking styles – influenced by kindred spirits like Joni Mitchell and Susan Tedeschi – which has led to the development of her own sonic palette and personal approach to songwriting.  She says of her new album,”‘From Way Down Here’ is an album about discovery and looking back on the little and big parts of youth. These songs were written during my first times of living alone when everything felt new and trying but also beautiful and important.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
