Jessie James “Rise And Shine” – let’s kick this year off with positivity

What kind of year are we going to have on Americana UK?  Well, there’s worse things to envisage than a year of folk/punk energy focused through the kick-arseist of all instruments the ukulele.  Jessie James, from Montreal originally, is a self taught ukulele folk/punk singer and has a song of rising up above adversity, forging a clear path ahead and not letting all the nay-sayers and the general societal “you can’t do that” get in her way.  Cool.

Jessie James is a mother of four and she learned the ukulele feeling the need to express her emotions.  In a more challenging time in her life, her connection to music solidified, with the ukulele becoming her closest ally. Her first composition, filled with sincerity and emotion, speaks of lived experiences, love, resilience, and hope.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
