Jim Basnight “Nazis Over There” – a janglepop warning from history

The latest release from dedicated Power Pop generator Jim Basnight is the second single from his upcoming – and yet unnamed – album.  The two songs making it up are ‘Nazis Over There’ and ‘So F’d Up’, and it’s the first of these we’re featuring today.  Jim explains that “‘Nazis Over There’ is dedicated to my late parents. My mom’s family was decimated by the Holocaust and my dad served in the Battle of Normandy and the Liberation of Paris campaigns for the U.S. Army.”  It’s a song that acts as a reminder of what freedoms can be eroded in a very short time – whilst the rich get richer on the back of it.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
