The family of the late John Prine have announced a celebration of the singer-songwriter’s legacy with a live-streamed “Picture Show” tribute. The June 11th show will be produced by the Prine family and his label Oh Boy Records and feature “musicians, actors, and friends remembering our beloved JP.” The list of people participating in the online celebration — which will stream via Prine’s YouTube and Facebook accounts — have not yet been announced.
All proceeds from the live-stream will benefit charitable organizations such as NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) and Alive who are providing free counselling sessions to anyone in Tennessee who has had a family member die from COVID-19; Prine himself of course died from complications related to COVID-19 on April 7th.
Prine’s widow Fiona said in a statement: “We look forward to being with you all to remember and celebrate your friend and our beloved husband, dad, and grandpa. Please keep yourselves safe and healthy until then. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your kind messages — they really help.”
Thanks for keeping us informed about John’s music, band and family.
