Tex-Mex by way of LA.

John Surge, a mainstay of the exploding Americana scene in Los Angeles, made his new record with veteran producer Tommy Detamore in Floresville, Texas. The two previously collaborated on last year’s ‘Almost Time’ album.    Brennan Leigh provides harmony vocals while Michael Guerra rocks the accordion with Haymakers Randy Volin on guitar, Brad Fordham on bass, Tom Lewis hitting the drums and Floyd Domino on piano.

Surge reflects on recording the track, “It started with a drum beat, then we added that Sir Douglas signature organ and the finishing touch was the Flaco-inspired accordion part, it’s still Haymakers through and through but with some added Texas spice.”

‘Marisol’ is the first single from the ‘Maybe You Don’t Know Me’ EP, available now from Blackbird Records.
