Julian Taylor “Don’t Let ‘Em (Get Inside Of Your Head)” – stay strong

It’s likely that you realise by now that we need precious little excuse to feature new music from Canada’s Julian Taylor, but if we were to have been looking for a persuader then the presence on the latest single from the 2025 Ontario Folk Music Awards Recording Artist of the Year of Jim James would probably have been all the extra we’d have needed.

Julian Taylor has said of the new single that: “‘Don’t Let ‘Em (Get Inside Of Your Head)’ is a song about holding onto yourself in a noisy world. It means a lot to me, and I’m so grateful to have my friend Jim James join me on vocals.

As well as Taylor and James the song features David Engle on keyboards, Anna Ruddick on bass, Tony Rabalo on drums and Aaron Goldstein playing pedal steel, guitar, and banjo.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
