Karima Walker & Katy Kirby “Right By You” – Listen

‘Right By You‘ is taken from the fifth Among Horses recording – cunningly entitled ‘Among Horses V‘.  It’s an original idea – what happens if you drop a pair of songwriters into a Spanish retirement home (retirement field?) for horses and give them just a week to come up with and record a set of songs.

In this case the pairing was Karima Walker (Tucson, USA) and Katy Kirby (Nashville, USA), who, despite never having met before soon came up with this wistful number about getting to know someone who is a mystery to you.  It’s got a lovely organic feel to it which sits well with the recording process – single takes with no effects in a recording room run by solar power.
