Max García Conover & The Ballroom Thieves “Mud” – hurting again, as usual

Max García Conover is a songwriter from New York. He has toured the US and Europe and releases records both independently and through the Barcelona-based label SonCanciones. In between songs Max García Conover tells stories, and his storytelling has been featured on The Moth Radio Hour and Stories From The Stage. And when he’s not touring, or telling tales then he teaches at a public school near his home in Maine.

Here he can be found with the support of the Massachusetts-based duo The Ballroom Thieves who describe themselves as “a rock band in a folk suit”.   ‘Mud‘ is a typically downbeat Max García Conover song, downbeat but with flashes of – well not optimism as such perhaps more shining despair.  It’s taken from the new album ‘deer‘ which is out now.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
