Mipso “Carolina Rolling By” – driving, driving, driving

Carolina Rolling By‘ is the latest single from Mipso’s sixth album ‘Book of Fools.’  It’s a slow meditative on driving – not the joyous hitting the pedal and going bolt for freedom, this is more the endless hours and miles passing by, fuelled by pills and peppered with the occasional asleep at the wheel moment.  Musically it’s a wistful rumination, but the reality would be rather other – “early March with the frost still hard I nodded off and turned.  The sand traps work, the stopping hurts.

‘Book of Fools’ is out on August 25th, and is, the band feels, a return to their roots – as guitarist and vocalist Joseph Terrell puts it, “‘Book of Fools’ feels more relaxed, more confident, more us – like we’re wearing our favorite clothes and telling our favorite story and it feels exciting again.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
