My Darling Clementine announce UK dates for the autumn

After a summer of relative inactivity (apart from erm moving to another country) Lou Dalgleish and Michael Weston King aka, My Darling Clementine have announced a run of over 30 European shows from now until the end of the year including 11 UK dates. Starting at the lovely Moseley Folk Festival on Sept 1st, and a one-off stop at The Cube in Malvern they head to the European mainland for shows in Germany, Denmark, Czech Rep and The Netherlands. The live shows will see them playing songs from their entire 10-year, 6-album career, including a short set of Elvis Costello songs that they recorded with Steve Nieve for the 2021 ‘Country Darkness’ album, as well as showcasing brand new material that is earmarked for the next MDC album, due early 2024.

The shows include a special, one-off concert at The Stoller Hall in Manchester where MDC will be joined by students from Chethams Music School, who will be adding brass, strings and choir to the proceedings, while the tour ends with what has become something of a tradition – a special MDC Christmas show, called Country Darkness Christmas Light in the couple’s old home city of Birmingham where they’ll play some of their favourite seasonal country, folk and blues songs from such writers as Willie Nelson, Joni Mitchell, Robbie Robertson, Nick Lowe and Alan Hull among others.

If the songwriting gods have been kind, they will then retreat to the studio to start work on the new album, the band’s 6th, provisional entitled, ‘Births, Deaths and Marriages’. As the say: “Not bad for a side-project that was only due to last a year and make one album. Show business, it’s a strange thing.”
