Other Brother Darryl “Until I Do” – no more tears

Boston alt-country and Americana band Other Brother Darryl make music in that tight harmonies, melody rich, cosmic-tinged corner of Americana.  Today’s song, for example, has as the B-side a rather groovy demo of a song called ‘The Ballad of Joni and Graham‘ which probably tells you as much about the band as any number of words.

‘Until I Do’ is a tale of a parting of the ways – a “you go your way and I’ll go mine” moment, with the pledge to never think of or cross paths with the other again.  It’s a bittersweet moment for Other Brother Darryl, as the song was released a few months after the unexpected passing of co-founding member Dave Mirabella, which gives the song an added poignancy.

Other Brother Darryl was founded in 2012, and the band on this recording are Dan Nicklin, Nate Leavitt, Dave Mirabella and Dan Cedarholm.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
