The latest single from the Palomino Kings takes some cues from Daniel Lanois – with switches in sonic intensity that happen at the drop of a drumstick, moving from an evocative ache to an earsplitting surge of the noise that we love.
The brooding message that the song conveys is a simple one – you can’t expect life to deliver what you need and the likelihood is that everything will sour and turn out in ways other than those you might hope for or desire. And even with that knowledge the downward spiral is, still, always a surprise “never thought I’d end up like this, living in the dark.”
