Rain Parade “Surprise, Surprise” – well, this was unexpected…

Well, just what has been the biggest surprise?  Rain Parade appearing as the support band for Dream Syndicate?  The new album ‘Last Rays Of A Dying Sun’ appearing last year?  The announcement of the full band European and UK tour kicking off in June this year?  Or the appearance of today’s song as part of the ‘Last Stop On The Underground‘ EP to be released on all formats on May 24th?  Frankly it has all been a bit of a mind blower all round – of the highly welcome and to be fervently hoped for but – “pfffttttt….mind blown” nonetheless.

There’s a soft psychedelic breeze running through this jangling song, which bodes well for the EP which features three newly recorded  songs and one song that couldn’t be fitted into ‘Last Rays Of A Dying Sun.’  And when that tour ends, well the band head back to San Francisco to flesh out a full album in the same vein.  These are great days to be living through.  Yes indeed.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
