Something for the week: Midnight Oil “Rising Seas”

There are probably lots of good americana songs about climate change (feel free to post any recommendations in the comments below) but few bands have the sense of urgency that Midnight Oil have with this track from their latest and final album ‘RESIST’ which feels appropriate to post today. They were in the UK last week playing songs from that record which begins with the track ‘Rising Seas’. As The Guardian put it yesterday, “Rising Seas begins with a hymn, then builds, holding back the tide – a metaphor for the song’s subject matter. Eventually, at 4.41, the song breaks its banks and overflows.” (which is where the below clip starts if you’re short on time). Just an incredible video too.
