Sprig Of That “This Time, Last Week” – it was probably raining….

It’s not uncommon for bands to tell us about their “unique sound” but, in the case of Sprig of That, they do have a point – guitar and fiddle so far so normal, but the tabla of  Krissy Bergmark does add a twist that it’s difficult, off-hand, to think of another such trio having.  This makes Sprig of That an eminently suitable choice for the Wednesday afternoon instrumental slot that we sometimes call Americana Uk’s cavalcade of classical and folk cross-over fusion.

Sprig of That formed in 2018 in Minneapolis and are guitarist Ilan Blanck, violinist, Isabel Dammann, and tabla player Krissy Bergmark and they were joined for this piece by cellist Olivia Diercks.  ‘This Time, Last Week‘ is taken from the album ‘Bloom‘ which was produced by Wes Corbett, and which will be released in February 2023.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
