Suzanne Vega “Alley” – or allies?

Continuing our theme from last week of Big Names, and few stand higher than Suzanne Vega (she’s the same height as Bob Dylan, and if 1.69m is good enough for Bob, then it’s good enough for anyone).  ‘Alley‘ is the last single release before the much anticipated new album “Flying With Angels” arrives on May 2nd.  The album is an album of struggle songs – struggle to survive, struggle to find a place in the world, struggle to be accepted, to live.  Struggle.  Of ‘Alley’, Suzanne Vega says ”Alley is about transcending life’s difficulties and seeking sanctuary somewhere.”

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
