Texas Music Revolution, the feature documentary marking Emmy-nominated cinematographer Troy Paff’s (Dirty Jobs, Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern) directorial debut, began its global streaming rollout on 5th June 2026 to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Texas Music Revolution festival in McKinney, Texas.
Featuring Kiefer Sutherland, Joshua Ray Walker, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and Charley Crockett, amongst others, the documentary follows indie radio station KHYI-FM (95.3 The Range) general manager and festival founder Joshua Jones as he endeavours to bring the 25th edition of the festival to fruition amid the post-pandemic return of live music.

“For me, this film was never just about putting a camera in front of a stage,” said Paff. “It was about capturing lightning in a bottle: the artists, the fans, the radio station, and the living, breathing culture of americana music in Texas. When we started rolling 5 years ago, we had no idea if the festival could withstand the seismic shift in live entertainment post-pandemic – Texas Music Revolution is a testament to the power of independent artistry.”
“Texas Music Revolution has always been about giving a platform to artists and songs that deserve to be heard on their own terms,” said Jones. “This doc captures the heart of that mission and to have it launch worldwide as we kick off year 30 is incredibly meaningful for everyone that’s been part of this journey.”
Long regarded as one of the flagship gatherings for Red Dirt, outlaw country and americana, Texas Music Revolution has helped spotlight and launch artists including Kacey Musgraves, Turnpike Troubadours, Charley Crockett, Ryan Bingham, Hayes Carll, Pat Green and Whiskey Myers.
The film is now available for rent and purchase across English-speaking territories worldwide on Apple TV, Amazon, YouTube Movies, Google Play, Vimeo On Demand, and Gathr. You can see the official trailer below.
This year’s lineup includes Shane Smith & the Saints, Randall King, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Wade Bowen, William Beckmann, Shelby Stone, Ellis Bullard, King Margo, Two Tons of Steel, Lance Roark, Mason Lively, Wesley Hanna, Katrina Cain, Tristan Roberson, Kristen Kelly, Mattie Rose, Matt Hillyer, Maylee & The Mayor, Silverada, Flatland Cavalry, Dawes, Wilder Blue, Lola Kirke and the heralded return of special guest Kiefer Sutherland, among others.
