The Carloways are an Americana band that hails out of Perthshire, bringing a Scottish spin to their sound. They released their debut album ‘Resuscitator‘ in February, and ‘Lonesome‘ is taken from it. It was written by lead singer and guitarist Mikey MacLennan who had this to say about it: “This is one of the oldest songs on the album. The melody floated around in my head for a while sometime in 2017. Then that year when we were on the way to Stornoway for a gig, with a video recording planned at the local studio (Wee Studio), I decided I wanted to record something brand new. The lyrics were quickly written on the ferry, we learned the song at the B&B and played it live for a video that afternoon.”
The Carloways wear their influences lightly – citing the Avett Brothers, The Jayhawks, Teenage Fanclub and…err…Oasis amongst them. And there are glimpses of the last three of those at least on ‘Lonesome.‘ Enjoy!
