The Cradle “One Too Many Times” – Listen

What does The Cradle sound like?  Well, the solo project of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Paco Cathcar could be summed up after hearing ‘One too many Times‘ quite easily as psychfolk. But what does The Cradle sound like? Well, imagine The Incredible Stringband fronted by Kurt Vile.  That’s somewhat of how The Cradle sound.  At least on ‘One Too Many Times‘. Elsewhere on the new album ‘Laughing in My Sleep‘ The Cradle can sound quite different – with experimental electronica replacing sun-kissed children of the universe vibes.

It makes for a challenging listen in places – but be assured that ‘One too many Times‘ is a great listen.  Paco Cathcar says of it “It’s a lament about miscommunication, and the difficulties of being vulnerable and clear with one another.  It’s about feeling desperately apart from the “vanguard,” that is, those who are fearless and true with their language, politically and personally.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
