The Fisherman Three “Electricity” – the alternative is only what?

The Fishermen Three is a band led by singer-songwriter Simon Beins alongside his longtime collaborator Raphi Gottesman.  They’ve released two previous album but took something of a break when  Gottesman moved to Oakland and became a local music scene fixture whilst Beins went to Hawaii and scored films.  However, over several years, Beins’ discovered that he had a pile of songs that had no real home outside of The Fisherman Three – and thus was created the third album “Infinite Feeling“, which is due out on August 29th 2025 on Royal Oakie Records.

Electricity‘ is a long reflection on a mismatched love affair, an over one that has no chance of being revived.  In that sense it’s the less emotionally developed half of the once a good thing but no longer slowly catching up with the way that world is now: “I thought we’d go back together but I went back alone / I guess I’d already lost you back at the county line / But could I really lose someone who was never mine / See I was with a woman, and you were with a boy.”  There’s all sorts of influences in here – a bit of Fruitbats, a bit of The War On Drugs.  Americana, in other words.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
