The Sharp Flatpickers “Red Haired Boy” – Listen

Red Haired Boy‘ is one of those folk tunes that left these shores and crossed the water and has fallen, this time, into the hands of Lee Kotick’s new powerhouse group, The Sharp Flatpickers.  They recorded it for their second album ‘Sundrops on the Water‘ which came out toward the back-end of last year.   The band are Lee Kotick (guitar), Gaven Largent (Dobro), Bryan McDowell (fiddle), Geoff Saunders (bass), Jake Stargel (guitar), Cory Walker (banjo), Jarrod Walker (mandolin).  This doesn’t mean that the album is all instrumentals – as there are several guest appearances on vocals to add additional colour.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
