Tom Jenkins “Is There A Next One?” – could be about sheep

This song comes from what is described as the new “surprise release” from Tom Jenkins, an EP called ‘Meadow Part 1‘ which finds the songwriter in a more stripped back mode than had been demonstrated on his more rocking precious releases.  Hailing from the high country of the South Wales Valleys, surrounded by the ex-coal mining communities and rugged landscapes, Tom works on a sheep farm where he gains inspiration for his songwriting and recording – and this latest release was recorded in his sheep barn on the farm in the South Wales Valleys.

Speaking of the new release Tom Jenkins has explained that “After two full-band albums, it’s back to basics on ‘Meadow’. It’s written, produced and recorded by myself, and I focused more on capturing raw moments through one mic, live takes and purposely keeping the songs as bare as possible.  Each song bears the raw emotions that can only be captured in this style of recording, and captures the ambiance of an old barn with the rain and wind hammering the structure. ‘Meadow’ is simply music captured in the moment and left in its original state.”

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
