Track Premiere: Carman A.D. “Changed”

Drew Carman – who performs as Carman A.D.- spent around five years relentlessly touring, putting in 150 or more shows in a year.  Then in 2013 he stepped aside from music and moved to Austin for a career as a greenspace/park designer. As his biography wryly notes, he may be the first musician in history to move to Austin to actually  stop playing music…Strangely enough, he found himself often in the company of musicians – strange that – and overtime the old itch came back.  So much so that his new EP ‘Wilderness‘ is set for release on January 10th.  ‘Changed‘ is the opening song on ‘Wilderness’, it also features Carson McHone on guest vocals.   Speaking of the song Drew Carman has said “I wanted to highlight a feeling I had once coming back to my childhood home having a much different take on the world. In thinking about that, the song explores the parallels between two stories: first, the well-worn story of a soldier coming back from war having changed who he is inside but looking the exact same physically. Second, with the experience of a trans woman coming back to an unwelcoming home, having changed physically but still being the same person she’s always been inside. Both stories are of two real brave people.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
