Track Premiere: Colebrook Road “Mountain”

Colebrook Road are guitarist, lead vocalist, and main songwriter Jesse Eisenbise, banjoist, dobroist, and bass vocalist Mark Rast, mandolinist Wade Yankey, fiddler and baritone vocalist Joe McAnulty and bassist and tenor vocalist Jeff Campbell.  Between them they claim musical influences which range from ‘90s country to heavy metal to punk rock.  And traditional bluegrass.  That last being quite important, since Colebrook Road are a bluegrass band.  With a twist.  On their latest album ‘On Time‘ there’s an unusual cover of a Paul Simon song – and not one of the more obvious choices but ‘Boy in the Bubble.’

Mountain‘ is one of Eisenbise’s songs though, and it entwines a “because it’s there” attitude of exploration with a more emotional, but potentially just as risky, romantic exploration.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
