Some people may have raised an eyebrow when they heard that Norwegian duo Darling West had been called “Cosmic Folk” by Lucinda Williams. Well, doubters, take a listen to today’s premiere and you’ll soon see that she had a point.
And if you are detecting a classic West Coast feel on ‘Make it Last‘ then you’re not alone – as Darling West themselves say “Spending time in California seems to have an impact on every songwriter. There’s definitely a west coast vibe shining through on this song. We all wish for the long summer nights to last forever, although deep inside we know we have things to deal with in the light of day. And some of us are better at putting that off than others.”
‘Make it Last‘ is taken from Darling West’s new album ‘We’ll Never Know Unless We Try‘, which is out on Jansen Records on February 7th. And if you can’t wait that long to hear more from Darling West, then head down to the Americana Music Association UK’s AmericanaFest and catch them live at Paper Dress Vintage at 7:30pm on Wednesday 29th. You know you want to.
Great Song – Love the acoustic version on their website myself personally – One in my diary for next week’s AMAUK
