Track Premiere: Joseph Terrell “Tallest House Of Cards”

This is the third single from ‘Good for Nothing Howl‘ the debut solo album from Mipso lead singer Joseph Terrell, which is released on SleepyCat Records on May 5th.  ‘Tallest House Of Cards‘  is a wry take on building a relationship on too unstable a foundation.  It can look spectacular for a while – but fail it must: “we built the tallest house of cards that didn’t fall, for a while.

The song features some lovely harmony vocals from Tift Merritt, and is sung to a delicate guitar accompaniment.  Also featured are Hiss Golden Messenger’s Chris Boerner on electric guitar and Matt McCaughan of Bon Iver on percussion and synthesizer. There’s an ethereal feel to the song – a little reminiscent of  Stephanie Dosen in places.  It’s delicate and spectral- and resigned and accepting.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
