Kevin Buckley grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, where his first musical direction was Irish traditional fiddle which he took up at the age of 9 going on to compete in fiddle contests in the USA and Ireland. Beyond his teenage years he spread his musical wings with bluegrass, old-time and swing. And, in the band Grace Basement, rock – releasing four albums so as part of that group. Varied, one could say – and today’s song comes from Buckley’s first solo release ‘Big Spring‘ which blends together those acoustic strands – folk, fiddle and bluegrass.
‘Never Tire of the Road‘ is a fine cover of Andy Irvine’s song, telling the tale of Woody Guthrie out there – on the road – forever on the road and organising for unionised labour and those hard won rights constantly at risk of being given up too lightly.
