Track Premiere: Roswell “Arabella”

Roswell are Zoë Wren and Jasmine Watkiss, two harmony-obsessed multi-instrumentalists who formed their Folk-Americana duo after an impromptu open mic night in Cambridgeshire in 2018.  They’ve released two EPs so far – with ‘Remedy’’ released in 2018 and then in 202 the follow up ‘Come Home.’  Things are stepping up a gear in 2024 as Roswell are planning the release of their debut album with ‘Arabella‘ the first single from it.  It’s a song that Jasmine Watkiss explains is inspired by her sister: “I wrote this song for my sister when she was having a hard time with anxiety – something we both deal with.  I’m a very heart-on-my-sleeve person in my songwriting, and increasingly I use music to talk more openly about mental health. ‘Arabella’ is a simple love song, my pledge to my sister to show up in small, everyday ways for her, through the good times and the bad.”

Roswell have date coming up in the next few days – but in Germany – and have nabbed a slot on the upcoming Costa Festival in Ibiza, alongside the likes of Bella Hardy, Tom Robinson,  Daniel Kemish and Oysterband.  Pretty cool – although Ibiza 25th April- 1st May maybe moderately warm is more like it.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
