Track Premiere: Sarah Lee Langford “Two Hearted Rounder”

Two Hearted Rounder‘ is the first single release from Sarah Lee Langford’s debut album of the same name which will be out on November 8th.  It’s a song that plays around the areas where cosmic country, and honky-tonk funk meet to make a pleasing sound that carries Langford’s gorgeously straight forward and no-nonsense vocal.

The song deals with a moment of barroom indecision – is there any worth in dropping old feelings and hitching oneself up to a new, probably not too great, proposition?  The perils of exchanging one hurt for another – or never shedding off an old pain: “a lifetime is too long to love a two-hearted rounder /  who thinks he found her dressed in a white gown.

The big grooving sound on the song comes from the pick of Birmingham Alabama’s rockers, including members of The Dexateens and Vulture Whale.  It’s a great curtain-raiser for the full album.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
