Van Darien “Twisted Metal” – Listen

Taken from the new album ‘Levee’, which was released last Friday, ‘Twisted Metal‘ is a tense and haunted song of destructive love which has Van Darien singing that she “can’t get enough of your wicked love“.   All the imagery is of love as a powerful car –  although there’s more than a hint that the pair are careening down a dirt road much too fast for safety.

Speaking of the song Van Darien has said “I feel like everyone can relate to wanting something, even though it seems crazy — especially in a relationship.” The Nashville-based Americana/indie singer-songwriter takes her influences from such disparate places as Guy Clark and The War on Drugs.  The tuned-in Americana listener may also hear a fellow-traveller of Larkin Poe.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
