Video: Declan O’Rourke “The Harbour”

Listening to Declan O’Rourke sing ‘The Harbour’ is like listening to an intensely emotional story.  His words are poetic and thought-provoking: “Maybe someday I can live like the fisherman who stays close to the harbour…For now I think I’m somewhere in the middle of the sea // I’m sailing on a suitcase filled with dreams of what might be.”  O’Rourke’s next album, ‘Arrivals’, is due on 5th February 2021 and was produced by Paul Weller, who has been a fan of the Irish singer-songwriter for some time.

O’Rourke says of the collaboration: “He was there every moment, before, during and long after, discussing ideas about this and that, even down to the artwork. It was hugely impressive.”  Watch the pair talk about working together here.  The new material is stripped back, focusing on O’Rourke’s story-telling vocals and outstanding guitar-work.  Absorbing.
