Video: Frank From Blue Velvet “Running Man”

Here’s the atmospheric new single from East Sussex band Frank From Blue Velvet.  Lead singer Andrew J Davies delivers an engaging vocal performance, his voice low and resonant and perfect for moody music such as this.  Lyrically, the song is a darkly reflective look in the mirror.  Compelling percussion from Ogs adds to the intense feel of the song, while Davies’ daughter, Ruby, contributes outstanding bass guitar – deep and grumbling, rumbling with brooding distortion.  There’s a great weight of tension throughout a song that blends country twang with a forceful industrial punk sound and that builds to a powerful conclusion, Davies’ distorted words belted out with passion.

‘Running Man’ features on the three-piece band’s brand new album, “I Am Frank”, which was released today, 23rd May 2025, on Hastings-based Property Of The Lost Records.  This second record from the band finds them exploring a layered but raw sound, full of gritty tension and relentless, electronic-inspired rhythms.  Sometimes, the band grows to include more instrumentation: violin, cornet and keyboards.  However, at the heart of Frank From Blue Velvet is this core trio and their great chemistry.  Father and daughter Andrew and Ruby, have found a great new connection through music after a period when there was a rift between them.  Their collaboration and renewed bond speak of the healing power of music.  Check out the new album and immerse yourself in these dark, brooding songs.
