Video: Kassi Valazza “Your Heart’s a Tin Box”

Kassi Valazza’s new song flows with a light strum over fluttering percussion while her words are delivered in a beautifully timeless melody.  In “Your Heart’s a Tin Box”, Valazza delivers a personal narrative about beginning a new life and leaving the old behind alongside the struggle and sacrifice that comes with pursuing her art: “I moved down to New Orleans // Thinking love would reappear // But people tell you everything // but what you wanna hear // You relied on fixated company // Now you’re drowning in your ego’s gluttony.”  The song-craft and execution are masterful and Valazza’s voice, pure and tuneful, is outstanding.

Valazza says of the song: “This song was written when I took a three month break from touring and found myself living in New Orleans. In those three months I was broke, falling in love again, and discovering the less likeable parts of myself as I began a new life in a strange place. This song is kind of an ode to every fear and worry I’ve had in the past year.”

The single is one of the highlights from Valazza’s forthcoming album, “From Newman Street”, which will be released on 2nd May 2025.  We’re eagerly anticipating her third full-length, the follow-up to the critically-acclaimed “Kassi Valazza Knows Nothing”.  After starting to write songs when she was just 10 years old, Valazza has grown into one of the most gifted writers around right now.  Enjoy.
