Video: Marissa Nadler “Light Years”

Here’s the latest video from singer-songwriter Marissa Nadler, who shot, directed and edited the footage herself. A series of moody, artful images flash by, mirroring the song’s atmospheric style. ‘Light Years’ is a haunting song with autoharp adding to its ethereal feel and shimmering synths delivered by collaborator Milky Burgess. Nadler manages to convey the fragility of our lives and loves with her vulnerable voice and graceful, subtly-layered instrumentation.

The song is about a slowly fading relationship, the painful dimming of a once bright light. Like her music, Nadler’s words are carefully arranged and elegant, and she captures that aching, wistful feeling of decay: “You used to see light years inside her // you used to be right there beside her // Back in the day, you were all the rage // when you could still hypnotize her. Rockets and planes, and through hurricanes // fused to the sight of her fire.”

This is the third single to be released from Nadler’s brand new, self-produced album “New Radiations”. It’s a collection that offers depth and darkness across its emotive, absorbing songs. Check it out.
