Michael Bernard Fitzgerald starts and ends this hushed outdoor performance with a smile and gentle laugh, adding an even greater sense of intimacy to a song that already feels sonically and lyrically personal. The camera pans around him, revealing a beautiful landscape that just may well be the ‘Love Valley’ referred to in the title of his brand new album.
Fitzgerald says of this song: “I want people to hear the song and feel that warm feeling. The good plates moments can be big ones – but also just evenings with friends and family. The song is a simple reflection of love. Wishing to get the table set for guests with someone you love.”
‘Good Plates’ has been released as a double-a side with ‘I Love You’, the final single from Fitzgerald’s fifth album, which dropped on 9th October. All being well, Fitzgerald will be bringing his travelling concert venue to the UK next spring. Look out for intimate shows in ‘The Greenbriar’, which he sets up in private outdoor spaces for just five families at a time: safely socially distant but romantic and intimate at the same time. ‘The Greenbriar’ features wooden floors, canvas curtains, string lights and antique chairs.
