The latest single from Nina Nesbitt is “Crooked Teeth”, an aching ballad about sustaining love and relationships in the face of our flaws and life’s challenges. Nesbitt’s intriguing, well-chosen words flow from her, like a melodic stream of consciousness on currents of piano. Her vocal performance is full of heart and emotion, especially towards the end of the song, when it builds towards an intense climax. The accompanying video features a live session recorded at Middle Farm Studios as part of the Mountain Music Sessions and we get an insight into the recording process.
Nesbitt has enjoyed an incredibly successful year – she’s currently on an arena tour with Snow Patrol after receiving two nominations for Americana Music Association UK Awards, reaching number 1 on the October 2024 Official Folk UK Albums Chart and exceeding a billion streams. Her critically-acclaimed 2024 album “Mountain Music” has just been re-released as a deluxe edition with four brand new tracks.
Nesbitt says of the album’s new deluxe edition: “I’m so excited to be releasing ‘Mountain Music (The Summit)’ edition today. It includes 4 brand new songs that I wrote shortly after delivering the album. These songs explore different topics from the initial album drop and are some of my favourites yet. ‘Enough’ explores self-esteem, ‘The Mountain & The Man’ and ‘Crooked Teeth’ are lyrical love songs interwoven with nature and nostalgia, and ‘Good Years’ is a big building track about changing your perspective on a failed relationship with someone. It feels like the perfect next stop on our journey, and I can’t wait to share these songs with everyone.”
This is beautifully-written and beautifully-performed. Enjoy.
