We are delighted to share the video premiere of the new single from Dean Owens. ‘To Where the Heart Is’ takes the listener on a nostalgic journey, rich with detail and personality. We can all relate to the memories he explores here: of distant places and times, old friends and the people who grew up together and went separate ways. The song was recorded with the full Whisky Hearts band, including Amy Geddes (fiddle), Brian McAlpine (keys), Craig Ross (guitar), Jim McDermott (drums) and Mike McCann (bass guitar).
Owens says of the single and video: “I’m very happy to finally be getting this track out into the world. I recorded it with my wonderful Whisky Hearts band, and the video was shot around Joshua Tree National Park in California. This is where I used to keep my old Airstream trailer, on my dear old friend Bob Delacy’s property – Rancho La Lomita – a few years back. Sadly neither Bob, the trailer nor Rancho La Lomita are with me any more. The video footage was shot – on Super 8 film by Nicki Young – on a rather sentimental journey to look around the old area where the ranch stood.”
This year, the Scottish singer-songwriter released ‘The Man From Leith: The Best of Dean Owens’ to much acclaim. As a special offer, this single is free to anyone who buys a copy of the album from Eel Pie Records, Bandcamp or Dean’s own website, here. This is a great album, collecting together the works of a great songwriter. Check it out.
